WHAT TO EXPECT

With a master’s degree as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I specialize in psychiatric diagnosis, treatment, psychotherapy and medication management. In addition, I have a partnership with a TMS center as well.

I will work with you to develop an individualized and personalized treatment plan which could include therapeutic strategies, medication management or lifestyle changes. I’m also trained to emphasize the nursing model, which focuses on patient education, advocacy and a holistic approach of maintaining overall wellness and optimal functioning for clients to find balance and live their life to their fullest.

Counseling for feeling overwhelmed and anxious

It’s 11:30 PM and at this point you’ve attempted to close your eyes to get a restful night’s sleep but wait…your mind is not ready to go to sleep yet! But you continue to try and…nope, your thoughts begin to rudely interrupt…“I can’t believe he would say that! I should’ve said something back to him.” Insert the perfect play-by-play of what you should’ve said and should’ve done.

Insert Squirrel.

“Ugh, I can’t believe I came into work 5 minutes late today. I am a total loser. I’m sure my boss wishes that he never hired me and is going to fire me tomorrow. I should have gotten up 15 minutes earlier but I just feel so exhausted all the time.” At this point you can’t go to sleep; you look at your phone and now it’s about an hour later! You think to yourself, “Ugh, I can’t sleep” and before you know it you are mindlessly scrolling through Instagram and looking at one of the influencers you happen to be following. As you’re scrolling, you begin to feel.
  • not good enough
  • wishing you were that influencer
  • wishing you had that absolute, most perfect life like they do
  • wishing you could be as pretty and thin as they are
  • wishing you were someone else…anyone else- just not you
And the next thing you know happens, your insecurities just keep getting bigger and bigger. Another 30 minutes or so pass by and finally you go to sleep. About 4 to 5 hours later, your alarm goes off to wake up. Now you’re restless, annoyed, anxious about your day and already feeling overwhelmed with your endless ‘to do’ list for the day.

Does this sound like you?

Waking up with no motivation or energy to do anything because you’ve spent your day and night overthinking and kicking yourself for not being good enough. You deserve to wake up with joy, energy, and motivation! Actually you deserve not only to wake up like that but to also maintain that energy throughout the day. When you feel overwhelmed and overly stressed, it causes anxiety. That anxiety then leads to unexplained insecurities…even if you were extremely confident at one point in your life. These insecurities then create negative thoughts to magnify your problem or problems…regardless of how big or small they actually are. This is how your brain begins to play tricks on you, saying things to yourself that you wouldn’t even say to your worst enemy. The worst part is that this cycle continues to repeat itself until you say this is enough! Now, I want you to take a moment and take a deep breath in for 3 seconds and exhale for 5 seconds. Do this a couple more times and this time–do this mindfully and relax your jaw, your neck, and your shoulders. Picture yourself waking up and not feeling a sense of dread. Having time to gather your thoughts, taking a moment for gratitude, and setting an intention for the day. You get dressed, have time to enjoy your coffee and actually eat breakfast. And it gets even better, you leave for work right on time and are ready to hit the ground running. YES, YOU! Waking up and taking control of your life with purpose instead of living overwhelmed with your problems. At Mental Wellness for Life, we provide you with tools that’ll help you decrease these anxious thoughts, increase your self-confidence, learn to love yourself, and feel secure in who you are and the decisions that you make. If you were to learn these skills and work through your anxiety with love and patience, who will you become? A Better Version of Yourself!
